Communio — A Christian Investment in Youth

Our MCN Interest…

Our network wants to support preparation of our laity, and especially our youth, for effective public engagement from a Faith perspective.  This is just one of a number of similar initiatives we seek to explore and recommend.  Do we have leadership here in Regina that might help to explore these options carefully and help to initiate and inter-church leadership-development ministry of this or similar type?

Communio groups functioning…

Communio is a specialized training and networking initiative of this type sponsored by the Cardus organization out of Hamilton and Ottawa.

Goals of Communio are outlined in the most recent issue of the Cardus newsletter, Times Like These, as follows:

  1. To bring together young Christian professionals to engage with the Christian tradition both ancient and modern.
  2. To encourage young professionals to be confident in living out a public faith.
  3. To learn from those who have gone before us, and those who are living today.
  4. To build and nurture an ecumenical Christian community through convivial events and opportunities
  5. To grow in friendship and love of Christ.

The first group in Ottawa (now attracting over 100 Christian young professionals) was launched in September 2021.  Others are being developed in Ottawa, Hamilton, and Calgary.
