Meeting ID: 858 5625 3359  Passcode: 434297

Why you may want to join us:

  • Kelly Stickel is a pastor in Lethbridge.  He is giving leadership to a MyCityCare movement that currently involves about 26 church in southern Alberta.  There is significant acceptance of the model being used to address community needs including those relating to poverty.  Church groups are being embraced by local government and other agencies.
  • Recently, Kelly and team were in Regina at the invitation of a major evangelical church where their program garnered much interest.  Christians would like to know how to help, but leadership is often in short supply.  Training with a model, such as MyCityCare, promises a sense of security and needed guidance.
  • There will be much more to learn, if this initiative does come to Regina.  But first, let’s consider the foundational thinking behind the movement.
  • We will look only at the introductory chapter this week.  the Kindle version of the book is only $5 (or $20 for the book) at Amazon.ca.
  • Ron Phillips will be our discussion leader this time.  (Some suggested questions are below.)

Preparation:

Upload Chapter 1  (We have permission to share and have you upload, yes!)
Print it out, or otherwise read in advance.  Be ready to share your thoughts and gain insights from others.

 Anticipate discussion questions such as:

    • How does Stickel view the current failures of the Western Church, and what does he mean by rediscovering the “original tune” that Jesus composed?
    • In considering the story of Nehemiah, what solutions are suggested?
    • What is the church’s true identity?
    • What would it mean to be part of the solution?
    • Is Stickel being persuasive in outlining the problem and offering a solution?

Our Purpose as a Missional Church Network

MCN is here to support Christians in their desire to be effective witnesses of our faith within the larger secular culture.

There are many organizations, ministries, and movements already “out there.”  We want to give support, provide connections, do in-depth analysis, and help build confidence in stepping out and becoming engaged. We are here to serve.
